How-to recreate Halle Bailey’s Nails from “The Little Mermaid”

The live action  “The Little Mermaid” movie starring Halle Bailey has inspired a new nail trend called “Mermaid Nails.” In a recent Instagram post (image shown above), Stephanie Staunton, Bailey's on-set nail artist, shared details on the nail look she created for the actor while filming. Keep reading to find out how you can recreate this ethereal manicure. 

Bailey’s nails were a short length with a soft square edge. Her nails were a carefully thought out mix of multiple trends since they have a strawberry milk-like pale pink base that beautifully showcases her nail growth. Staunton revealed that she used a custom blend of pink, cream, and glittery pink nail polish to create the manicure. There is also a delicate gold shimmer added to dance in the light and give a healthy glow. 

Mermaid Nails are a beautiful nod to the recent “my nails but better” nail trend which is also referred to as  ”hyper-realistic” nails. The trend is all about wearing subtle nail polish that makes your nails look natural yet glossy and radiant. It is also pretty low-maintenance and goes with practically anything.

This look can be achieved by painting your nails with a sheer pink nail polish like Barbella Co’s Tu-Tu Gel Polish and then finish with a sheer coat of shimmer.
